Hurrah for my first post wearing my striped voile. :D All that needs doing is a hook and eye, some retouching of the zipper (invisible zippers and multi-layers don't mix), and the hemming. So I've waited to cut out the striped voile skirt peices until the bodice was completed, so that I could try it on and determine exactly how long I wanted to make it (if the 4826 pattern was too short, etc.). After reading the reviews on PatternReview.com, I decided to make a muslin for the bodice of McCall's 5094 before I cut my fabric. Generally I don't make muslins, but recently someone gave me a large batch of scrap fabrics, so I dug into that (leopard print here I come!). And boy am I glad I did ( Read more... )

Alrighty. After some dilly-dallying around on some fashion sites, I decided the style wouldn't be outdated too soon and thus to forge ahead with the striped voile dress. The fabric and patterns have been sitting in my dresser all summer - I feel so bad!

So lately I can't shake the feeling of being a complete bum. I've been off of school for the past 3 months, have had no job, and have gotten diddly-squat done in the way of sewing. But I know if I revel in the lethargy, I know I won't get anything done. Enter inspiration.
